About Greg
Greg Bollella worked as a research Ph.D. in the computer industry in Silicon Valley for over 30 years. He achieved world-class innovator status in a small but important niche of computer science, real-time computing, with the publication of ‘The Real-Time Specification for Java’ in 2000. He’s also devoted research and innovation to the Internet-of-Things and Blockchain areas of technology. His last position was CTO for Internet-of-Things at VMware where his innovations spun out multiple startups. However, in 2020, due to events beyond his control, he found himself with a lot of free time on his hands and started to delve into his passion for art. Discovering the wild world of 3d art he’s become a prolific producer of highly-varied artistic 3d renderings with one piece getting millions of views and downloads on Unsplash. His portfolio varies greatly from the shocking to the sublime to the fanciful as he explores the technical limits of the current tools available for creating 3d art.
Artist’s Statement:
My work so far clearly shows exploration in techniques, styles, venues, purpose, and narrative. Early in my career as an artist I am searching for my ‘voice’, my unique style. Trying to learn everything I can about 3d modeling workflows as well as the visual arts. Thus, I believe, one can characterize my portfolio as eclectic (more colloquially, all-over-the-map). However, at a fundamental level what I want to do is to create visual images that people find momentous pleasure in viewing.
